Cerilliant Introduces New Glucuronide Certified Spiking Solutions®
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – August 2, 2010 - Cerilliant Corporation announces the addition of Temazepam glucuronide lithium salt and Mycophenolic acid-β-D-glucuronide Certified Spiking Solutions®. Along with six other glucuronide standards recently introduced by Cerilliant, these two new standards bring the current offering of glucuronide Snap-N-Spike® standards to twenty-one.
The use of glucuronide reference standards is an essential part of clinical testing to ensure accuracy in the detection and concentration of metabolized drugs in clinical samples whether as part of a urine drug monitoring program, for toxicology analysis, or for therapeutic drug monitoring. Accuracy and reliability of results are critical due to the potential clinical, social, and legal consequences.
Temazepam, trade name Restoril, is a benzodiazepine normally prescribed for insomnia but also shows anticonvulsant and anti-anxiety effects. Temazepam glucuronide is the primary metabolite of Temazepam and may be monitored as part of a urine drug analysis to detect Temazepam use. Mycophenolic acid glucuronide is the major metabolite of mycophenolate, an immunosuppressant drug given primarily to transplant patients and secondarily to patients with a variety of autoimmune disorders. Monitoring of mycophenolate and its glucuronide metabolite concentrations in serum is part of therapeutic drug monitoring programs for ensuring patients remain within the drug’s therapeutic range.
Cerilliant Certified Snap-N-Spike® solutions of glucuronides are shelf-stable, highly accurate solutions that are suitable for use in the preparation of calibrators or controls in clinical or toxicology analysis. The convenient ready-to-use solution can be spiked into a laboratory’s matrix of choice before use eliminating the need to perform painstaking weighing operations and reducing waste of valuable reference materials. They are suitable for use in GC/MS or LC-MS/MS analysis and provide laboratories additional tools in the specific detection and quantitation of drug levels in clinical samples.
