2016 WADA Prohibited List - Changes from 2015
The new World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2016 Prohibited List came into effect on January 1, 2016. Several minor changes have been made to the WADA prohibited list for 2016 compared to the 2015 prohibited list (Major Changes - 2016 WADA Prohibited List). For a list of the updates from the previous WADA prohibited list, see below:
 
   S2: Peptide hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics
  • Meldonium (Mildronate), a cardiac drug, has been added to the 2016 WADA list due to evidence of its use in athletes.
   S4: Hormone and Metabolic modulators
  • Leuprorelin replaced triptorelin as a more universal example of a chorionic gonadotrophin and luteinizing hormone-releasing factor.
   S5: Diuretics and masking agents
  • Use of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors is permitted only for treatment of eye related conditions or diseases.
   S6: Stimulants
  • Clonidine is permitted.
  Monitoring Program
  • Hydrocodone, morphine/codeine ratio and tapentadol have been removed. Their use is permitted.
