Retinol is one of the animal forms of Vitamin A and is essential for vision, skin health, and bone growth. Vitamin A deficiency, often the result of poor nutrition, is monitored in patient serum samples by HPLC or LC-MS/MS. This reference solution is suitable for use as starting material in the preparation of linearity standards, calibrators, or controls for a variety of testing applications from diagnostic testing of Vitamin A deficiency or toxicity by LC-MS/MS or HPLC to quality control testing of retinol-based dietary supplements or pharmaceutical preparations.
