Cerilliant Introduces New Snap-N-Spike®Internal Standards of Nicotine Metabolites

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – January 9, 2014 – Cerilliant introduces two new Certified Spiking Solutions® of nicotine metabolites anabasine-D4 HCl and trans-3’-Hydroxycotinine-D3 at concentrations of 100 µg/mL in methanol. These solution standards can be used as internal standards spiked into patient samples or in isotope dilution methods for quantification of anabasine and 3-hydroxycotinine levels in nicotine screening and other clinical or diagnostic testing applications by GC/MS, LC/MS, or LC-MS/MS.
Tobacco use represents the largest preventable health hazard in the United States, accounting for the deaths of 443,000 adults each year.1 Routine screening of nicotine biomarkers in individuals who use tobacco products such as cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, nicotine gum, and oral snuff may be inevitable as greater portions of the population obtain health insurance through state exchanges and more businesses go toward no tobacco policies.
