Serum levels of L-ascorbic acid, commonly known as vitamin C, are an adequate measurement of clinical status. Low levels of vitamin C occur in scurvy, malabsorption, alcoholism, pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, and renal failure. This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantification of vitamin C levels in serum or other matrices by LC/MS or GC/MS for clinical diagnostic, or forensic analysis applications.
